Mamuhkihdaau “Moving a Community” Is a community working group aiming at mobilizing the people of Mistassini to address social issues, community wellness and strengthen the values of our youth.
It began as a pilot initiative by the Cree Justice and Correctional Services Department and is a frequent contributor to the Cini-FM Programming. It’s goal through weekly broadcasts is to discuss various issues that are of importance to our community and give vital information to people on how they can address these problems within their own lives as well as get involved in local groups and activities.
The committee is comprised of representatives from throughout our community including Social Wellness through Ashley Iserhoff, education through local teachers, and Justice and Correctional Services with Noah Coonishish and Sheena Costain.
Their talkshow has also had some great contributors including Miranda Blacksmith, Lillian Iserhoff, among others. It gives an opportunity for a rounded discussion but also to acknowledge that the needs of our community are diverse and that people are needed.
Cini-FM is excited to be part of a project that helps our listeners to understand community issues and to help mobilize people towards positive change. We wish the mamuhkihdaau team the best of luck moving forward and to highlighting some issues during Crime Prevention Week.
